A crack in concrete caused by structural movement can be
a serious problem but water ingress through the crack can
often prove more troublesome than the presence of the crack
itself.
Corrosion
of reinforced steel and freeze–thaw
damage caused by water penetration can create major structural
weaknesses, not to
mention the dangers of water freezing and becoming a hazard.
