Dampness
in walls, brickwork and render can be caused by many different factors.
Apart from the obvious rising damp, other
causes including;
faulty guttering & down pipes, poor pointing, defective flashings
or failure of an existing Damp Proof Course (DPC) allowing
moisture ingress.

With rising damp comes ground salts and their very nature of crystallisation
can ruin decoration and plaster finishes.
Aside to the superficial damage rising damp can cause, it can also
lead to unhealthy buildings which in turn can lead to infections and
various respiratory complications for occupants.

The rotting of Timber can be further accelerated by the presence
of damp - it also increases the rate and growth of fungi which attack
and destroy beams, skirting and any other wooden structures.
